Green Gatherings

About the Company

In Lusaka, Green Gatherings refers to a vibrant, collaborative initiative that bring together organic farmers, backyard gardeners, eco-entrepreneurs, and organizations dedicated to agroecology and sustainable urban living.

The meetings are organized and hosted by Greens and Grains Trading, a popular organic produce vegetable shop and sustainable hub in Lusaka, in collaboration with the Zambia Alliance for Agroecology and Biodiversity.
They generally focus on:

Agroecology and Soil Health: A massive point of discussion is the exchange of clean farming practices. Attendees swap strategies on organic pest management, dynamic composting, and transitioning away from synthetic chemical dependencies.

Urban Sustainability Spotlights: The forums regularly invite local pioneers to share actionable blueprints for zero-waste living. This includes hosting features with local eco-enterprises - like Zamkanda Initiatives discussing how to turn suburban kitchen waste into high-grade compost, or Recycle Lusaka sharing strategies for community plastic upcycling.

The gatherings are known for their open, informal, and welcoming nature. They successfully blend casual weekend socialising where attendees can pick up organic snacks and chat with deep, intentional discussions about food security, urban greening, and climate resilience in Zambia.

For anyone looking to move beyond basic gardening tips and plug into a progressive network of people redefining what it means to live sustainably in the capital, keeping an eye on the local Greens and Grains Facebook Page is the perfect place to start.
