Urban Water Harvesting

Bujianna lives in Meanwood, a part of Lusaka with clay soil, which is waterlogged in the rainy season and hard-baked in the dry season. 

 

In this video, she shares how she prioritises water harvesting to ensure clean water for her household and that she can maintain enough water for her small urban farm where she practises sustainable living.

Feeding water back into the soil, during the rainy season is one of the most effective ways to ensure that your borehole and garden have water for longer.

 

In this video, Bujianna learns just how effective grass and other vegetation are in ensuring the water penetrates into the ground instead of flowing away with all the topsoil.
